Key takeaways
- Zelle says it is available in more than 2,400 bank and credit union apps.
- Since the standalone app closed in 2025, your bank's membership decides whether you can use it.
- Most large national and regional banks are on the network; some online banks are not.
- If your bank isn't listed, a peer-to-peer app or a bank transfer is the fallback.
More than 2,400 U.S. banks and credit unions have it built directly into their mobile apps and online banking — covering a majority of American consumer checking accounts across all 50 states. Since the standalone app shut down on April 1, 2025, your bank's membership is the deciding factor in whether you can use the service at all. Below is the current directory of the major participating institutions, organized by category.
How to use this list
- Find your bank below to confirm it's on the network.
- For published daily and monthly caps, see our limits by bank page.
- If your bank isn't listed, check the Zelle option inside your bank app — the directory below focuses on the most-asked-about institutions, not every single participant.
The Big Four U.S. Consumer Banks

Online-First and Challenger Banks
Not every online bank is on the Zelle network. The ones that are:
- Ally Bank
- Discover Bank
- LendingClub Bank — integrated in Rewards Checking
Some popular app-based accounts are not on the network, including Chime, and payment apps such as Cash App and Venmo are separate services. If you use an app-based account, check whether Zelle appears inside the app before relying on it.
Business Banks With Zelle for Small Business
Qualifying small businesses can accept payments at a growing list of banks, often with significantly higher caps than consumer accounts. The leading options:
- Chase for Business — the service is included on most Chase business checking tiers
- Bank of America — integrated in Business Advantage accounts
- Wells Fargo for Business — business tier available
- U.S. Bank Business Essentials
- Truist Business Checking
- PNC Business Checking
- Many regional banks and credit unions — verify in your business banking agreement before accepting commercial Zelle volume on a personal account, which usually violates terms.
What If My Bank Isn't on the List?
Three options, in order of simplicity:
- Check your bank app anyway. The directory grows quietly — your institution may have added Zelle without a public announcement. Look under Transfers → Send Money or Pay People.
- Open a second account at a Zelle-participating bank. Compare monthly fees and features before you open an account. See our matching tool.
- Use an alternative. Venmo, Cash App, PayPal, standard ACH, FedNow or a cash advance app all cover different situations where Zelle isn't available. Full breakdown in our Zelle alternatives guide.
FAQ
How many banks are on the Zelle network?
More than 2,400 U.S. banks and credit unions are on the network as of 2026, covering a majority of U.S. consumer checking accounts across all 50 states.
Can I use Zelle if my bank is not on the network?
No. Since the standalone app shut down on April 1, 2025, Zelle is only available inside a participating bank or credit union app. If your current bank is not on the network, you need to open an account at one that is.
Which bank has the highest Zelle sending limit?
It depends on which banks publish their limits. Wells Fargo allows personal accounts $3,500 per rolling 24 hours and $20,000 per rolling 30 days, while Chase uses tiers of up to $10,000 a day depending partly on the recipient. Bank of America shows limits only inside its app. See our limits by bank page for details.
Is Chime on the Zelle network?
No. Chime does not offer Zelle in its app. Chime members who want to use it need an account at a participating bank or credit union.
Can I use Zelle at an international bank?
No. The network only works between accounts at participating U.S. banks and credit unions. For international transfers, services like Wise, Remitly or a bank wire are the standard options.
